Bozeman Deputy Mayor
"Building a Better Bozeman"
My Vision
“To ensure Bozeman is a connected, caring community where families can thrive, our workforce can live and our collective passion for the outdoors is maintained.”

Why Do I Believe in Public Service?
I believe that we are all called to make a positive difference in the world, and that we should each strive to improve the lives of others through service to one another and to our community. Each of us has a role to play in that grand mission. For the past 4 years, I've had the privilege of serving as a City Commissioner of the city that I love - Bozeman, Montana. I see my service as a commissioner as an integral part of my responsibility to leave the world a better place than I found it.
This role has allowed me to try to address some of the most vexing issues we face as a community: growth management, affordable housing, mental health & social services, fiscal responsibility, conservation of precious resources, and preservation of our unique character and quality of life. It comes down to this: "How do we preserve the things we love about Bozeman as we continue to grow?"
As you review my record of accomplishments over the past 4 years, I hope you'll agree that:
-
I have made many positive contributions to addressing key community issues; "I get things done."
-
I have gone well beyond the traditional role of a City Commissioner to provide tangible solutions: "I am fully committed to the welfare of the city."
As Mayor, I will continue to make significant progress on our most challenging issues, but importantly, I can also help foster the types of partnerships and collaborations among key Bozeman organizations and institutions necessary to move us forward as a community. I am convinced that we have the resources to tackle every major challenge; we just need to work in tandem to harness our collective horsepower and creativity. "There is nothing wrong with Bozeman that cannot be cured by what's right with Bozeman." To that end, I have launched a virtual think tank called Bozeman Together that encourages collaboration and partnership between Bozeman's major institutions to tackle our most vexing problems.
I urge you to join me in striving to make a positive difference in Bozeman; to ensure that we bequeath to future generations a sustainable, welcoming, vibrant, caring community that can be a shining example for other cities and towns in America.
